The Dancers’ Studio at Oberlin offers our students a caring and balanced program of instruction, based on healthy, physical principles that stimulate the imagination. Our supportive and encouraging environment allows the creative process to unfold, providing young children with a strong foundation in dance. The young student has the greatest potential for developing technical strengths, musicality and artistic awareness. The varied curriculum and progression of 
level of The Dancers’ Studio allows for the development of a strong, versatile dancer.

Student placement is based on teacher evaluation or end-of-year evaluation. 
Students are placed based on technical ability, age and mental maturity.

Ballet  Our ballet program is developed to take the young dancer from the earliest steps to an advanced level of study. We stress a healthful, anatomical approach to teaching dance and our guided progression of classes helps to build and enhance the students’ body and training.

Pre-Pointe  Strengthening exercises that prepare the dancer prior to beginning work on pointe. Minimum of three Ballet Tech classes per week required (Teacher Recommendation required).

Choreography Class  Students experience a variety of styles and genres, contemporary to classical.

Jazz (Intermediate to Advanced Levels) Blends syncopated, percussive rhythms with musical theatre styles from Robbins to Fosse to Hip Hop

Tap/Jazz Combo (ages 7-9) Provides students with the opportunity to learn the basic skills of rhythm in both Tap and Jazz and explore the differing movement by performing choreographed foot work and floor work sequences to music. 

​Teen/Adult Ballet  Enjoy the physical benefits of ballet and the joy of expressing yourself through this beautiful form  of dance. Improve strength, flexibility and coordination.
